6 Things I Would Tell My Younger Self

What wisdom or advice would you give to your “younger” self? I recently had the awesome opportunity to lead chapel to 800+ students and faculty at Christian HS (San Diego) and share my answers to this question. For the past 5+ years, I get the great opportunity to lead chapel 2x per year, share my testimony, and fire the kids and adults up. Today, I’d like to share my “live” message with you as well.

At this chapel, I wanted to step back in time and knowing what I know now, what would I tell my 13-18 year old self? While the wisdom is as applicable for adults as much as kids, I always love talking turkey with them and sharing from the heart & soul. I think you will feel what I mean by listening in.

Some of the topics I discuss include:

  • How to lay the foundation for “success” now.
  • How to stop “worrying” so much about life.
  • How to deal with adversity.
  • How and why prayer is so important, regardless of how old you are.
  • How to live with divine purpose and put even more faith in God’s plan for you versus your own plan.

Enjoy today’s chapel service. Hopefully it will speak to your mind, body, and spirit today. Thanks for tuning in. If you have a son or daughter, or someone you know who needs to hear this, please share it with them also. Thank you in advance!

NOTEWORTHY QUOTE FROM THIS EPISODE:

“Make your dreams bigger than your memories.”

You can’t change what’s going on the outside… until you change what’s going on in the inside.”  – Pastor David Jeremiah

“Comparison is the thief of joy.”

VERSES:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-8)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts & your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:2-5)

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)
