We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our fitness facility and help us build one of the strong fitness communities in the country. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a passion for fitness and a strong business acumen. The General Manager is responsible for driving success, leading and developing staff, and ensuring a high-quality member experience.

Position Type: Full-time (40-50+ hours per week)

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:
  • Recruitment and Development: Recruit, hire, train, and manage a high-performing team of fitness professionals, including personal trainers, group instructors, and front desk staff (we call them “Directors of First Impressions.”)
  • Coaching and Feedback: Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to support employee development and career growth.
  • Staff Meetings: Lead regular meetings for the team to provide updates, discuss what’s new, review what’s working, identify areas for improvement, and inspire the team to live and work fully.
  • Leadership Meetings: Meet weekly with the lead trainer and front desk lead to ensure alignment and operational excellence.
  • Scheduling: Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all operating hours.
  • Culture Building: Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that aligns with company values.
  • Accountability: Implement and manage accountability systems, staff meetings, and performance reviews.
  • Policy Enforcement: Ensure all company policies and procedures are clearly communicated and followed by all staff.
  • Critical Issues: Inform the owner of any critical staff issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Daily Operations: Oversee all daily gym operations, ensuring the facility is consistently clean, safe, and organized.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards. Manage maintenance, repairs, and supply inventory for the facility.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all IMPACT-X Performance company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Quality Control: Uphold training standards, coaching quality, and safety protocols consistently.
  • Role Model: Serve as a role model for members and coaches in professionalism, coaching, and living a healthy lifestyle.
  • Prepare, manage, and analyze operational budgets, financial reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, and payroll to ensure profitability.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as processing payroll, managing invoices, and processing bank deposits.
  • Collaborate with ownership on strategic planning and execution.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales and marketing plans (with CMO) to attract new members and retain existing ones.
  • Drive membership growth by organizing promotional events and forging partnerships with local businesses.
  • Social Media Interaction and coordination with hired social media director.
  • Oversee membership sales and renewals, ensuring team members meet and exceed sales goals.
  • New prospect consultations and converts them to members or clients.
  • Perform 80% of sales consultations; closes consults; “follows through” with all new clients/members.
  • Community outreach and helps “own within 5-miles of the facility.”
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and address member inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Serve as a point of contact for resolving elevated customer service issues.
  • Promote a vibrant and connected gym community that drives member satisfaction and retention.
  • Creates unique community experiences for members, both in-house and in the community.
  • Inform owner of any critical member issues or concerns.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred. Minimum 2+ Years college required.
  • 3-5 years of progressive leadership/management experience in the fitness or retail/hospitality/service industry (preferred).
  • Proven track record in managing budgets, driving sales, and leading a team.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the fitness industry, including current trends and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency with gym management software and Microsoft Office.

  • Current CPR and AED certification required.

Time-LINE for General Manager Hire:

  • Accepting GM Applications for IXP-San Diego from now until Dec 1st, 2025.

  • GM Starts between Dec 22nd-January 5th.

Compensation Package:

  • Salary range $70-80K annually

Todd’s new studio, IMPACT-X Performance in beautiful, sunny, San Diego (Carmel Mountain Ranch), CA, is hiring.  Our team is searching for a highly
motivated, professional, responsible, certified, and experienced Performance Coach/ Personal Trainer to work with everyday fitness enthusiasts and teach small group and large group classes, as well as private training sessions. Our new team member should be extremely friendly, positive, upbeat, and energetic and have great communication skills.

This person needs to be passionate about exercise & conditioning and about working with people from all walks of life, including athletes of all ages.

This person must have passion for learning and must be committed to attending educational conferences and continually updating their Certification & experience is a must and needs to be able to create cutting edge experiences and building clients for life.

 
We have 5 positions available– full time (25-35 hours per week) including Saturdays. Minimum of 3-years experience required. Positions start in January 2026.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Client assessment:

Evaluate clients current fitness levels, health conditions, and goals through assessments and health questionnaires.

Design and build customized exercise programs that may include strength
training, cardiovascular workouts, and stretching, adapting them based on
client progress and needs.

Teach and demonstrate how to perform various exercises and use equipment safely and effectively to prevent injuries.

Our new coach should be able to not only coach a private or semi-private session, they should be able to lead group classes as well.

Motivate clients, track their progress with data-driven metrics, and make necessary adjustments to their programs to help them feel successful and stay engaged.

Provide clients with information on proper exercise techniques, nutrition, and lifestyle choices to support their overall health and fitness journey.

Perform administrative duties such as giving facility tours, signing up new members, and supervising the gym floor and equipment areas to ensure a
safe and welcoming environment.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a personal training certification from a nationally accredited organization.
  • Be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Possess a strong understanding of exercise science, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and motivate them effectively.
  • Demonstrate stamina and strength to be active with clients and properly demonstrate exercises.
  • Have great passion & energy for people, transformation, and the opportunity to change people’s lives.
  • Be a team player and have the desire and thirst to GET BETTER!

Todd Durkin’s newest studio, IMPACT-X Performance (Carmel Mountain Ranch/San Diego, CA), is hiring a stretch therapist to assist our awesome clients & members bridge the gap between our fitness options (private, semi-private, large-group training) & Recovery. 


We are looking for a highly motivated, professional, passionate, and skilled Stretch Therapist for immediate hire. This person could be certified in FST or a similar stretch certification. We will also train in our IMPACT Stretch Flow system as well.

Sports Massage Therapist/Bodyworker/Stretch Therapist at IMPACT-X Performance in San Diego, CA

Todd’s new studio, IMPACT-X Performance, in beautiful, sunny, San Diego, CA, is hiring. We are looking for a highly motivated, professional, passionate, and skilled Sports Massage Therapist/bodyworker (HHP or NCMTB) and Stretch Therapists for immediate hire. A degree in a health-related field is an asset, but not mandatory with massage techniques incorporating flexibility and deep tissue. National level certification by NCTMB or HHP required, and 3
year’s experience is recommended.

Our new team member should be extremely friendly, positive, upbeat, energetic, responsible, and have great communication skills. This person should possess the desire to work amongst a team of other successful massage therapists and personal trainers. It is imperative the individual can perform therapeutic massage, deep tissue, flexibility, sports massage, and be open to learn new types of structural bodywork in a positive, sports-performance related environment. The candidate must have a passion for learning and must be committed to attending educational conferences and continually updating their skills. The clientele would range from people in pain, people looking to improve athletic performance, professional athletes, as well as everyday people looking to reduce stress and enjoy the benefits of massage therapy.

Job summary:
The Director of First Impressions is responsible for managing the front desk operations to ensure a seamless and positive experience that reflects IMPACT-X Performance’s brand and values. This role is a key point of contact for all visitors and serves to build rapport, handle inquiries, and support gym operations. 

Specific Responsibilities include:

Member and Guest Services:
  • Enthusiastically greet all members, guests, and prospective clients by name as they enter and exit the gym and recovery studio.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and handle member and guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints with a positive, proactive, and problem-solving attitude.
  • Manage the member check-in process, ensuring proper procedures and systems are followed for all check-ins, guest registrations, and delinquent accounts.
  • Offer tours of the facility to potential members and new guests, highlighting amenities and creating a memorable and personalized experience.
  • Ensure that all visitors sign necessary liability waivers and understand gym rules and safety procedures.
  • Manage a multi-line phone system, directing calls and providing accurate information to callers.
  • Handle and process various transactions, including membership sign-ups, payments, retail sales, and account updates.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and lobby area, stocking supplies as needed.
  • Assist with gym and recovery sales and marketing by promoting membership options, referral programs, and promotions.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, filing paperwork, and managing digital schedules and records. 
  • Oversee retail and ancillary recovery services.
  • Communicate important announcements, updates, and information to members and staff effectively.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as personal training and group fitness, to schedule sessions and resolve member issues.
  • Manage lost and found items and maintain proper protocols for lost property.

Qualifications and skills:
Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a customer service or administrative role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a warm and professional demeanor.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including point-of-sale (POS) software, scheduling applications, and Microsoft Office. 

Preferred:

  • Experience in the fitness or health industry.
  • Basic understanding of marketing and sales principles.
  • Current CPR and AED certifications. 

 

We are looking for 25-40 hours per week initially and evenings and weekends are a must. Compensation starts at $20 per hour + a competitive benefits package, depending on hours worked. There is great chance for advancement with this role, depending on one’s aptitude, attitude, and desire for advancement.
