Last week, I was driving from San Diego to Anaheim to present at an event and I was in a deep discussion with my passenger in the car on a topic that I’m trying to figure out.
“Why can’t I figure out the YouTube algorithm?” I asked.
“We put out a lot of content on several different platforms but I can’t seem to ‘crack the code’ with YouTube.”
Marques and I went back & forth for 30-minutes or so speaking specifically on YouTube and I blurted out, “I wish I could just meet someone from YouTube or spend some time with someone who really understands the ‘behind the scenes’ of growing & scaling your messaging, specifically on YouTube.”
So guess what?
At my speaking event (Coach360 event) just hours later, I met a gentleman who just quit working at YouTube after spending 7-years there as an executive. 7-YEARS at YOUTUBE…and in a major role!!!
Whaaattt?? Yep. This gentleman and I spoke for 30-minutes while at the event and I said, “You won’t believe this but I literally just a few hours ago was talking about
how I just need to meet someone from YouTube who can help me grow & scale our messaging on YouTube.”
He laughed. And then said, “Well here I am…When do you want to meet?”
I said, “Monday.”
Guess what? We are meeting TOMORROW!!! (Monday!!!)
3 Take-Aways:
1. BE IN THE ROOM. I don’t know how many times I say this but YOU GOTTA BE IN THE ROOM. This is where the magic happens. I would have never met him if I wasn’t in the room LIVE and In-person or he wasn’t in the room. I can’t say it enough…BE IN THE ROOM!!!
2. Set your INTENTIONS…and then SPEAK them into LIFE!
Was it a mistake that I set that intention with YouTube and then I spoke it out-loud in the car? And then just hours later, literally, I’m meeting a former YT executive who played a MAJOR role within their company…who is also available to talk deeper than a hallway conversation.
Now I’m not saying because you set an intention and then speak it out-loud that hours later it’s going to come to life. I’m not saying that at all. But I do believe that by setting an intention and speaking it out-loud, and then showing up to LIVE events (outside your comfort zone), you will let the universe know of how serious you are.
I do believe that is how you manifest your dreams and desires and ultimately make it happen…and happen a lot faster than if you hadn’t set your intention, let alone spoken it into LIFE!!!
3. DO THE WORK. Let’s not forget…you gotta do the work. Even in the 30-minutes we spoke, he dropped some gems to me for our YT channel that we will begin to execute immediately. As in TODAY!!!! (Check out even our podcast episode that just dropped TODAY and see if you detect any subtle changes!!)
Better yet, this gentleman and I are meeting up tomorrow (Monday) for a few hours on all things YOUTUBE, and he’s going to share with me what we can do to grow and explode our YOUTUBE channel. And you can bet your bottom dollar one thing, whatever he says we need to do as a team, we WILL WORK ON IT and ultimately DO THE WORK.
